Spencer Out of YOKKAO Fight Night with Suspected Brain Trauma
Originally set to co-headline 30th November's YOKKAO Fight Night Bologna, Spencer has pulled out of the event due to suspected traumatic brain injury.
Over the past week, Spencer has reported seeing flashes of light on a recurring basis on top of vertigo, dizzy spells, and other symptoms. It is uncertain when the injury was sustained but as a key concern of the YOKKAO Team to ensure the well-being of our fighters, we have consulted at three different hospitals (namely Sukhumvit Hospital, Bangkok Hospital and Samitivej Hospital respectively) to get a second and third opinion for an accurate diagnosis of his conditions.
So far, Spencer has undergone various medical checkups including eye, MRI scans and other tests. Both the MRI and eye test results indicated no abnormalities, leading doctors to suspect brain trauma but further investigations will be conducted to arrive at a reliable diagnostic conclusion.
As concussions can be severe in combat sports with potential critical health risks, all training are currently suspended for Spencer and the decision was made to pull him out of all competions until further tests are done and the symptoms are fully cleared. We will continue to monitor Spencer's conditions with follow-up at the hospital over the next few weeks. We wish him a speedy recovery and will keep everyone posted on further updates.
Another fighter is expected to step in and replace Spencer in the co-main event in Bologna. Look out for the announcement which will be made in the next few days.
Organized in partnership with Italian promoter, Mario Zanotti, YOKKAO Fight Night Bologna is the first in a series of events showcasing top Muay Thai athletes. The inaugural show will feature the main event bout between multi time world champion, Singdam and Italian fighter, Cristian Faustino.
The event will be held at Caselle 26 San Lazzaro di Savena. For more information on the event, contact email@example.com.
