YOKKAO Muay Thai gloves stand out because they are handcrafted in Thailand, the birthplace of Muay Thai, using only premium materials such as high-grade genuine leather and advanced microfiber. Each pair is built with multi-layered foam padding for superior shock absorption, reinforced stitching for durability, and ergonomic design for maximum comfort and wrist support.
Unlike mass-produced gloves, YOKKAO gloves are tested daily by professional fighters at the YOKKAO Training Center in Bangkok to ensure real performance inside the ring. They also feature bold, fashion-driven designs that combine fight culture with modern style, making them not just equipment but a statement of identity.
This blend of authentic craftsmanship, innovation, and cultural influence is what sets YOKKAO apart from other brands and makes our Muay Thai gloves trusted worldwide by both beginners and elite fighters.

When choosing the best boxing gloves, one of the most common questions is: should you buy leather or microfiber gloves? Both materials have their advantages, and the right choice depends on your training needs, budget, and personal preferences.

Leather Boxing Gloves

• Premium Quality: Genuine cowhide or buffalo leather gloves are considered the gold standard in boxing gear.
• Durability: Leather is highly resistant to wear and tear, making these gloves long-lasting even with heavy use.
• Comfort & Fit: Over time, leather molds to your hand shape, offering a customized fit.
• Breathability: Natural leather is more breathable, reducing sweat buildup inside the glove.
• Investment: Leather gloves are more expensive but ideal for fighters who want maximum performance and longevity.

Microfiber Boxing Gloves

• Modern Alternative: Microfiber is a high-tech synthetic material designed to mimic the softness and flexibility of leather.
• Low Maintenance: Unlike leather, microfiber is easy to clean, doesn’t absorb as much sweat, and resists cracking or peeling.
• Durability: Quality microfiber gloves are tough and built to handle intense training sessions.
• Cost-Effective: More affordable than leather, offering professional performance at a lower price point.
• Vegan Option: 100% animal-free, making them the best choice for those seeking vegan boxing gloves.

Which Gloves Should You Choose?

• If you’re looking for premium boxing gloves that last for years, go with leather.
• If you prefer easy-care gloves that are affordable and vegan-friendly, choose microfiber.

Yes, there are key differences. While both types of gloves are designed to protect your hands and wrists, boxing gloves usually have a more rigid structure and firmer wrist support, optimized for straight punches and longer rounds of striking.
Muay Thai gloves, on the other hand, are designed with slightly softer padding and greater flexibility in the wrist area. This makes them better for blocking kicks, catching strikes, and controlling opponents in the clinch, essential elements of Muay Thai.
YOKKAO gloves are versatile enough to be used for both boxing and Muay Thai training, giving fighters the best of both worlds: strong wrist support for punching and the flexibility needed for Muay Thai techniques.

For beginners, 12 oz. or 14 oz. gloves are the most versatile choice. They provide a balance between protection and comfort, making them ideal for general training and sparring.

The lifespan of boxing gloves depends on usage and care. On average, training gloves last 6–12 months with regular use. If you notice worn padding, reduced wrist support, or odor that doesn’t go away, it’s time to replace them.

High-quality boxing gloves are made from genuine leather or durable microfiber. YOKKAO gloves are handcrafted in Thailand with reinforced stitching and multi-layered foam padding for maximum durability and impact absorption.

It’s possible, but not ideal. Bag work wears down gloves faster due to repeated heavy impact, while sparring requires softer padding for safety. Many fighters prefer one pair for bags/pads and another for sparring.

After training, wipe your gloves with a dry cloth and let them air out in a cool, ventilated area. Use glove deodorizers or inserts to keep them fresh. Avoid leaving them in your gym bag where moisture and bacteria build up.

Heavier gloves (16–18 oz.) are often used for sparring because they provide extra padding, improving safety. However, lighter gloves (10–12 oz.) are preferred for bag and pad work to build speed and precision.

Boxing gloves are measured in ounces (oz.). The right size depends on your weight and training purpose. Lighter gloves (8–12 oz.) are commonly used for bag and pad work, while heavier gloves (14–18 oz.) are better for sparring to provide added protection.
